When selecting tire chains for mud, off-road, and Load Range E tires, relying on the chain size recommended for all-season (OEM) tires may not be sufficient. These types of tires often have larger and more aggressive treads, which can require longer chains.

If you purchase chains based on the size recommended for all-season tires, you will likely need to buy additional parts to extend the chains, as they may be too short.

We recommend purchasing the same type of chain as you would for normal tread tires, but with one additional cross chain longer. This extra length will ensure a proper fit and provide some flexibility. It is easier to shorten a chain than to extend one, so having the extra length allows for adjustments as needed without the hassle and expense of buying extension parts later.
